Some people get lucky on social media, posting what ever they feel like – anytime – anywhere – and gain a huge following. The remainder of social media stars have strategy behind their success. If you’re feeling stuck with social media, you’re in the right place!

Get ahead in your business instantly by answering TWO important questions that benefit you both online and in “old school marketing” techniques too.

What image are you portraying?

First impressions are important, whether in person or online. So is being authentic to who you are. Many personal trainers get caught trying to make everyone like them. At some point you’ve gotta differentiate yourself. Plus, it’s most enjoyable to be who you are and cultivate confidence from there.

Each personal trainer is unique in their personality, education, abilities and talents. A great way to find out what makes you different from others is to ask people you like and trust for their honest opinion. It might sound scary, but it’s something every ambitious business owner has done.

Ask five people these questions via email, text or phone now:

*What makes me different from other personal trainers?

*What do you see as being my top five personality strengths?

*What type of first impression do you think people get from me?

Be accepting of what people tell you, especially if you get the same answer from more than one source. Maybe you’re really approachable and easy for people to talk with. You may be perceived as quiet, peaceful and grounded. Perhaps you come off as intense and hard core or really enthusiastic.

All traits have pros and cons.

The key is to strengthen the positive aspects of each. Step into who you are fully and be it!

Once you’ve got a firm grasp on who you are, then you can contemplate your audience.

Who are you sharing with?

Aligning your image with your audience needs is the key to success on any social media platform. Know who your target audience is. They’re also called your ideal customer. If you’re not sure who “they” are, think through the various clients you have. Which do you enjoy working with the most and why?

Then, think about it some more:

*What words describe the people you like and want to personal train?

*What sort of images, articles and quotes can you post to align with those people’s needs?

*How do you want your posts to make your audience feel?

Bring it together and post away

Awesome job! Taking the time to answer these questions makes hitting the “share” button more meaningful to you and the people reading your posts.

Pause before you post and keep exploring the deeper meaning behind what you do in your business.

It’s what sets success apart from failure and career enjoyment apart from misery.
