A part of enjoying the warm summer months include going to the beach. This could be wiggling your toes in the sand by a lake or an ocean. Either way, there are a ton of things to do rather than laying around like a beached whale. Your clients have worked so hard to achieve their summer body. Now they can go out and enjoy all of the fun activities that go along with being strong and healthy with these beach workouts.
Take a group of clients out together for a fun team outing before summer comes to a close. It’ll be a fun community experience and mix up your regular routines.
Standup paddleboarding
These boards are such a great way to get around on the water for a close to the beach workout. You get to work on your balance and arm strength. The twisting motion that you make as you paddle around will also work into your obliques. You will also work on your balance while having a soft landing if you get out of sorts. When paddling, it isn’t necessary to submerge the entire paddle. You can glide around by pulling the blade through the water.
Snorkeling
The first time I went snorkeling was when I lived in Hawaii. Definitely not a bad place to go for my first experience, but there are many places that have great snorkeling spots. I found it to be very therapeutic as I watched the fish and turtles swimming about. On top of that, swimming is a full-body beach workout. If you aren’t a strong swimmer, use a life vest so you stay calm and don’t run into any dangerous situations while you are out on the water.
Pedal boating
As a young girl, my family went pedal boating once while living in the Philippine islands. I was only 7 years old, but have memories just like it was yesterday. This was such a great activity for my entire family since it was easy for my parents to keep an eye on the kids and we all got to enjoy the amazing sea creatures together. The boat was set up similar to a recumbent bike which was great for my mom who has had pesky lower back issues for ages. This is also a great beach workout for anyone that is unable to swim due to shoulder injuries.
Kayaking
If you are looking for something you can do with a partner, kayaking just may fit the bill. You can get your own kayak or share one. Sharing allows you to take turns paddling around and gives you someone to enjoy the experience with. For those that have any lower-body injuries, this will give your arms and obliques a great workout. You will be surprised how quickly you can move around on the water and view the wildlife in the water.
Stair climbing
For those that are not fond of deep water, climbing stairs can be a great way to get your steps in and enjoy a fantastic view. Some of the beaches that I have been to around the world have staircases that look like a work of art. You can put your lower body through a great leg sesh and then take a selfie at the top to show off your hard work.
Documenting these experiences through pics from you or your clients are a great way to motivate others. Read on how you can use these types of posts on Instagram to boost your personal training business.
