Stand out from other personal trainers by honing in on what makes you unique. Then, communicate your message to the world!

Someone somewhere has the same name as you…the same car that you drive..or even perhaps the exact same height as you. Does that not make you any less “you”? Of course it does not because we all have unique physical abilities and intangible qualities that differentiate us all.

Here are some different methods of marketing that I’ve tried with examples to inspire your creative marketing juices. This way you can truly stand out as a personal training pro.

Create a Strong Logo and Tagline

A speech can only be strengthened by a strong message, the same way a logo can be enhanced by a strong tagline. Apple has “Think Different”, Nike has “Just do It”, and Verizon has “Can you hear me now”. Those are just a few highly successful and reputable companies with both strong logos and equally strong taglines.

My training alias is “Hercules” but I chose to put “HERC” for short on all marketing material. It adds a personal touch to who I am as both a person socially speaking and a trainer on the professional front.

HERC” resembles a nickname you would give a friend or close acquaintance. Adding to this my logo is constructed using a simple yet bold and mechanical font which helps to illustrate the strong yet simplicity of my nature.

Combined with my tagline “Strength & Versatility”, my physical strength and the passion I put into my clients and the services that I provide is also conveyed. This has both cemented me as a trusted trainer by my peers and helped to generate new leads and growing clientele base.

Showcase Your Brand on Media

Based on my experience working with people, clients, colleague, peers and the like, they all had one thing in common: personalization. What do I mean by this?

My:

•clients love workouts custom to their fitness needs

•colleagues appreciated when I remembered their names

•peers are joyful when I call them by a simple but unique nickname

That being said I thought a way to further this appreciation of personalization and interaction was to put my logo on apparel with the option of having the client have their name or nickname on customized on the back of their shirts.

As a result, this strengthens my brand, relationships with clients and grows my following as a fitness professional. Plus, I get to leave a piece of myself with every client. These customized shirts serve as a keepsake clients can have long after we are done training together.

Who knows, my shirt might end up in an entirely different continent for another part of the world to see. As a fitness professional I am almost certain that every trainer wants their influence and presence to be far-reaching and deeply felt. A great way to do that is by placing your brand on different media.

From having your brand on a 2D format such a Business Cards, flyers, and even apparel. What about bringing your brand to the BIG SCREEN! Yes, 3D.

Another way to expand your brand identity is by creating yourself or having a professional create you an animation or digitizing parts of your brand and “bringing it to life” per se.. “It’s ALIIIIIVE”, excuse my Frankenstein impersonation.

Using myself as an example, I teamed up with a seasoned animator and explained to him the vision I have for my brand and persona: “HERCULES”. From there we devised a short opening/introductory scene portraying my self in action assisting a client struggling to perform pushups.

Check it out:

As a professional, I had to think outside the box in separating myself from the pool of trainers. Creating an animation to elevate my brand was that missing linking.

These are all ways of expanding your brand’s identity through effective marketing methods. Yes, the process can be lengthy and at times strenuous.

Similarly, the process your client go through during his or her fitness journey.

At the end, however, it will all be for due cause as your presence and credibility as a trusted and reputable trainer shoots through the roof. Do you know of any additional methods?
