Clients expect a great deal out of their personal trainer. They expect the best service, best results, best personality. Really, the best everything. That is a lot to live up to. After all, being a personal trainer does not make us superhuman.
We cannot expect our clients to lower the bar of performance because we have other things going on. We must give them 100% of our efforts day in and day out. Even if we are stretched for time. This is easier said than done. There are a few tips that I can give that may help you out to be all that your clients expect.
Be Punctual
Always be early to your appointments. I have heard many clients in the gym talking about how their trainer is always running late. Having rumors such as this spreading about you will most definitely impact your business in a negative way.
Dress to Impress
Arriving to an appointment wearing wrinkled clothing and in need of a shower is not a good image to be advertising. Look sharp when you are training clients. View each training session with a client as a potential marketing session. Everyone in the gym will judge you based on your appearance alone before they even approach you. Your goal is to attract clients, not to ward them off.
If it’s Broke, Fix It
If your client’s progress is at a standstill, make a change. Your client will expect some improvements each week. If they are failing to see any, they will most likely lay the blame on you. Whether you deserve it or not. Re-evaluate your clients often and give them feedback. Make them aware of what is going on with their progress so that they feel a sense of responsibility.
Go Above and Beyond
What I mean by this is to go further with your clients. Go past the normal trainer-client services and offer more. Give them take home workouts. Give your clients free diet log books. Or any other special services you may offer. Don’t just do the bare minimum, do more. Your clients will appreciate it. When clients like a service they are paying for, they are more likely to tell others about it. All of this works out for your benefit, as well as theirs.
These are just a few things you can do to make the most out of your personal training services. Giving your clients the best possible service will translate into more repeat clients.
