Carbohydrates 101

There used to be a TV commercial where the spokesperson would always end with, “An educated consumer is our best customer.” I wholeheartedly believe such an approach is key to helping a client reach his/her fitness goals. After all, the average client works with me between 2 and 4 hours per week. That leaves about 164 hours where it is up to the client to do the right thing. An important part of that education lies in recognizing how carbohydrates affect the human body.

Is Fat Really That Bad?

We have been taught that it is dangerous to be overweight. Now some experts claim that fear is overblown. It is not fatness but fitness that counts. If you are 5 feet 6 and weigh 155 pounds, many doctors would consider you ten to fifteen pounds over your ideal weight. There are some who might say you are thirty pounds over and at risk for numerous health problems. These opinions have more to do with culture and society than health itself.
